Cooking and Nutrition:
Slow Cooker and Instant Pot Fall Favorites

Fall is a busy time of year and is a great season to dust off your slow cooker or Instant Pot and put them to good use. In this cooking demonstration for adults, participants will learn some best practices for slow cookers and Instant Pots and how to cook healthy, delicious meals. Recipes and food samples will be shared. This presentation will be led by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist from Sound Dietitians. Funding provided by Skagit Regional Health. Stop the Bleed®: What Everyone Should Know to Stop Bleeding After an Injury

During this free, hands-on training you will learn various ways to control life-threatening bleeding after an individual has sustained an injury from an everyday emergency, man-made or from a natural disaster. You will be given a list of items to create your own Stop the Bleed® emergency kit. The American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma is leading the effort to save lives by teaching the civilian population to provide vital initial response to stop uncontrollable bleeding in emergency situations. Tyler Dalton, Trauma Coordinator at Skagit Valley Hospital and Tiffany Jayne, Trauma Coordinator at Cascade Valley Hospital will teach this one-hour training. Please note this is not a first aid class. No charge, but pre-registration is required by calling 360-814-2424.
