New Parking Lot Opens at Little Mountain Park

The City of Mount Vernon announced the opening of its new 54-stall parking lot at the base of Little Mountain Park.  The new lot more than triples the current parking capacity, minimizing the dangers of the past practice of on-road shoulder parking.  New trailhead connections have been added to the parking lot to provide direct access to existing hiking and biking trails.

“This expansion increases recreational opportunities for the community to get outside and be active,” MV Parks Director Jennifer Berner said. “And this (lot) provides a safe way to come and go from this amazing park that has over 522 acres of diverse recreational opportunities with breathtaking views, tranquil forests, beautiful creeks and miles of trails.”

The Mount Vernon Parks Department reminds park visitors to please “Play it Safe” and use face coverings; follow group size limits, and maintain physical distancing in our parks.  Your cooperation is paramount in allowing these spaces to remain open and accessible.

Little Mountain Park gate is currently open at 10AM and closes daily at dusk.
