Mount Vernon City Council Candidate Forum on December 16

City Council members will interview eight applicants tonight, as they look to appoint a new councilmember to serve Ward 1.

All eight applicants for the Ward 1 position were invited to tonight’s group forum which can be viewed live on the City’s YouTube channel.

Council’s plan is to fill the position—left vacant after former councilmember Erin Moberg resigned due to health concerns—around the beginning of 2021.

City Council vacancies are filled by an appointment of the City Council. The newly appointed council member would need to seek public election in November of 2021 if he or she wants to hold the seat beyond 2021.

The eight candidates who responded to council’s invitation to all qualified Ward 1 residents are:
