Skagit Valley College accepting Fall Quarter applications for its Applied Bachelor in Applied Management (BASAM) degree with tracks in General Management and Health Care Management
Skagit Valley College (SVC) is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for Fall enrollment in its Applied Bachelor in Applied Management (BASAM) degree program. The program offers two tracks, General Management and starting Fall 2021, Health Care Management.
BASAM is a two-year, 90 credit workplace orientated program designed for students who have completed an associate’s degree in any field, including those that do not typically transfer to four-year universities. The learning environment replicates the on-the-job learning environment with upper-level courses that model a management view perspective. Classes meet once a week and participants undertake the bulk of their learning independently or in groups. The costs for the required learning materials are capped at $50 per upper-level course.
The BASAM program is led by Sunaina Virendra, MEd, MBA. Ms. Virendra joined the Skagit Valley College faculty in 2015, following a 25-year career as an international Fortune 500 executive, during which she held leadership roles in Public Affairs, Strategy and M&A, Finance, Marketing, Consumer Insights, and Revenue Management. BASAM participants often express their appreciation for how the BASAM program emphasizes real life application, relevance, and workplace context and the ways in which Ms. Virendra brings her own experiences into the classroom.
Applied bachelor degrees at SVC are selective admissions programs that begin each Fall. Interested individuals must attend a program briefing before applying. The incoming 2021 cohort is limited to 20 for the General Management track and 10 for Health Care Management. About applied bachelor degrees in Washington: Some individuals earn a non-transfer, professional/technical degree at a community or technical college and later decide to pursue a bachelor's degree. In response to that need, many community and technical colleges in Washington, including Skagit Valley College, offer applied bachelor degrees where people can take two more years of upper-level coursework to earn their four-year degree. Those with work and family responsibilities can pursue their degree where they live, work, and raise their families. In addition to its BASAM program, SVC offers an Applied Bachelor degree in Environmental Conservation.
