Skagit Valley College Human Resources Manager Kristina Hutchinson to receive excellence award
Skagit Valley College (SVC) is pleased to announce that SVC Human Resources Manager Kristina Hutchinson is being recognized by the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). She will receive the 2021 Western Region Human Resources Excellence Award virtually this month. Kristina joined SVC’s HR team in 2010.
The CUPA-HR award honors transformative human resources work in higher education, recognizing individuals or teams who have provided HR leadership resulting in significant and ongoing organizational change within their institutions.
In submitting their nomination, the SVC Human Resources team applauded Kristina’s leadership, analytical skills, and lean management background that impacted the department in several key areas. Among her accomplishments, Kristina completed an extensive analysis of the core competencies needed to implement a new HR service model and prepare the HR team for organizational change. She also built consistencies in HR workflows and practices and developed procedures and a catalog of checklists to help the HR team efficiently replicate outcomes. Much of Kristina’s work was completed to help HR at SVC prepare for ctcLink, the new administrative software system being implemented by Washington’s Community and Technical Colleges.
As a western region CUPA-HR award winner, Kristina’s nomination will be submitted for consideration for the national HR Excellence Award.
Professionally, Kristina has also continued to strengthen her HR acumen. She earned the national Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) People Analytics Specialty credential in 2019.
