Mountain Film Festival in Concrete
A CELEBRATION OF MOUNTAIN LIFE
The Concrete Chamber is pleased to announce that we’re finally able to host the first Mountain Film Festival in Concrete after two years of cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event is Jun 2-5, 2022, at the Concrete Theatre in our Historic Town Center. It’s a celebration of mountains -- near and far -- through movies, multimedia presentations, photography, guest speakers, live music, and more.
Feature-length documentaries include This Mountain Life; The Alpinist; Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey; and The Mountain Runners. Shorter films will highlight local mountain-biking and hiking trails, mountain safety, and the area’s history.
We are excited to be joined by special guests Jeff Kish of the Pacific Northwest Trail Association, Oak Rankin of Glacier Peak Institute, and climbing enthusiast Jeremy Akers of the new Silos Climbing Wall.
Special thanks to other participating individuals and businesses for partnering with us on this event: Puget Sound Energy, Andy Porter Photography, Leah Serna, Skagit Trail Builders, Amy O’Reilly, Germaine Kornegay, Mark Pearson, Trek for Treasure, United General District 304, and Seattle City Light.
The film festival coincides with the Mount Baker Ultramarathon, a 56-mile out and back foot race from Concrete to Mount Baker’s Sherman peak at 10,160 ft, taking place Saturday, June 4. The race draws its inspiration from the Mount Baker Marathon that lasted for three years, from 1911 to 1913. More information about the race and its colorful history is at www.mtbakerultra.com. A special presentation on the original race will be held on Saturday, June 4 at 5:00 p.m., when the film “Mountain Runners” will be screened. Prozac Mountain Boys will provide live bluegrass music.
The Mountain Film Festival takes place at the 99-year-old Concrete Theatre at 45920 Main Street, in Town Center. The Concrete Chamber of Commerce has been fortunate to receive financial support from Skagit County and other contributors to make this event possible.
The complete schedule of films and presentations can be found at www.mountainsonfilm.com. Tickets will be available for purchase online.
