Children of the Valley is Hiring for Their Activity Coordinator

Position: Activity Coordinator (2 positions available)

Wage: Starting at $17 or more DOE, 25 hours per week

Position Summary: Assistant Youth Activities Coordinator will report to the Site Coordinator and assist with supervising and implementing the program’s daily curriculum and activities. They will work in the classroom directly with the children overseeing daily activities. This position consists of 4- 5 hours daily, M-F, approximately 2:00-6:30 pm. The program follows the School District Calendar.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in supervising the children and all activities during the after-school program hours.
  • Assist in developing, planning and implementing the program’s academic curriculum, enrichment, and recreational activities.
  • Lead and manage a classroom of approximately 10-15 children, supervising and assisting with daily remote learning zoom classes and assisting students with daily homework. Plan and implement daily enrichment activities; using appropriate classroom management skills.
  • Lead small and large group games and activities.
  • Assist and supervise daily afternoon snack time.
  • Assist in preparing materials and learning areas for the afternoon’s activities
  • Communicate regularly with school teachers, parents and families of the children.
  • Participate in all staff meetings, program events and program fundraisers

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience working with youth
  • Experience and understand working with children and families from low-income backgrounds.
  • Experience working with children and families from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate program and group activities.
  • Ability to work as a team in small and large groups.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with administrators, staff, parents, students, and the volunteers.
  • Skill in conflict resolution, resolving problems, and creating solutions
  • Strong Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrates an ability to use effective human relation skills, including diplomacy, people management skills, tact and flexibility.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with Children of the Valley’s policies and requirements.
  • CPR, First Aid and Food Handlers Permit will be required prior to program start

Preferred:

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
  • 25 years of age is preferred, not required.
