Skagit Valley Family YMCA partnering with Help Me Grow Skagit for free Healthy Kids Day event

The Skagit Valley Family YMCA, in partnership with Help Me Grow Skagit, is excited to announce its annual Healthy Kids Day event on Saturday, April 26 at the YMCA’s Hoag Road facility (1901 Hoag Road, Mount Vernon, WA 98273). The free community event will take place from 12:30-2:30pm.

This year’s event is sponsored by PFLAG Skagit, the Kiwanis Club of Burlington-Edison, and Martha’s Bridal.

On Healthy Kids Day, children and families can learn about the importance of learning; healthy eating; nutrition and physical activity; mental and emotional well-being; and developing healthy habits.

A wide range of local organizations will be present at the event, including Skagit County Public Health, the North Cascades Institute, Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition, Mount Vernon Parks and Recreation, and the Skagit Valley Food Co-op, just to name a few.

Fun games, educational activities, healthy snacks, and resources will be available for kids and families to enjoy. Plus, there will be lots of free giveaways, including life jackets, backpacks, tie-dye T-shirts, and more.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Help Me Grow Skagit for Healthy Kids Day this year,” says Charlotte See, Admin Coordinator at the Y and one of the organizers of the event. “By joining forces, families will have access to more resources and more opportunities for healthy activities!”

Healthy Kids Day® is the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. For more than 30 years, YMCAs and their communities have hosted free community events aimed to inspire kids and families to keep their minds and bodies active throughout the summer months and beyond.
