LOCALS NIGHT at McIntyre Hall
McIntyre Hall Presents Locals NightFriday, May 17 7:30pm McIntyre Hall is proud to present some of our most vibrant local songwriters—Nathaniel Talbot (solo acoustic), The Scarlet Locomotive (Americana duo), and The Sky Colony (21st Century folk rock). The evening will close with an all-bands jam. All Seats $10“Talbot pushes our understanding of ourselves through the intensity of his songcraft. Even the instrumental tracks are enough to make you stop what you’re doing and listen.” – No Depression“The Scarlet Locomotive runs out of Bellingham, Washington and the Skagit Valley to parts unknown. The band is powered by fiddle, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and the shared vocals of Arielle Luckmann and Ted O’Connell. Call it `Americana` or `Story Music` – this duo thrives on songwriting. ““There’s traditional folk song structure, but there’s a kind of unbound playing that sounds fresh and like it comes straight from the front family porch. Instruments seem to be jamming, rather than repeating some well-worn path – Meyer’s electric guitar in particular gives the sound a distinctive twist. Add exact harmonies, an eclectic mix of music styles and you have a heady pastoral sound…” ~ Rob Dickens / Rob Dickens 101 Australia This concert is made possible in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Washington State Arts Commission.
