Residential Fire in Mount Vernon
Crews responded to a report of flames coming from every window of a residence on Old Highway 99 South, Monday evening at 5:50 p.m.
Mount Vernon firefighters arrived to find the home fully involved, and the incident was upgraded to a two-alarm fire.
The home, which had been evacuated by its single resident, was a total loss, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire. Surrounding properties were protected by firefighters, and one neighbor was treated for smoke inhalation.
