THE BONY PONY CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING OF NEW STORE OCT. 5-10

The Bony Pony, a locally owned western wear and tack shop, will be celebrating the grand opening of its new, expanded store Oct. 5-10.

The new store, located at 2423 Old Hwy 99 S., is next door to its old location and more than doubles the size of the original store. The 6,050-square-foot building was constructed by Chad Fisher Construction of Burlington.

Owner Cherie Geerdes said the new store allows them to spread out and display more merchandise, and also features a “sale loft” with discounted and consignment items.

“That’s something we didn’t have room for at the old store,” Geerdes said.

The Bony Pony provides a large selection of tack and apparel, including 3,000 pair of boots, for both Western and English-style riding. “Our employees have the experience and knowledge to make sure our customers get the best product for the best value,” Geerdes said.

“And you don’t have to have a horse to come into our store,” Geerdes added, saying the store sells work boots, jeans and weatherproof outdoor gear and caters to customers who love the western lifestyle as well as to all horsemen.

The new store opened in late July, and the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce hosted an official ribbon cutting on Sept. 22. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the ribbon cutting was not a public event, but Mayor Jill Boudreau was in attendance to mark the occasion.

The Bony Pony is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
