INSTRUCTION

SVC is proud that classes are taught by our trained, experienced online instructors. While most classes will be offered online, we are also pleased to offer you in-person opportunities in select Science courses and Workforce programs. Our Basic Education for Adults program will also include limited in-person classes. In addition, SVC offers a lot of support services and resources to help you meet your goals.

Academic Transfer

Start your college transfer degree and join our SVC community online! Save big money on tuition compared to a four-year college or university, with no commuting. Whether you’re looking to pursue your passion in areas such as Visual Arts, Music, Business, Math, or Science, our Areas of Study provide a clear roadmap to your success. All SVC Academic faculty have advanced degrees in their field of expertise, in addition to significant teaching experience and a deep commitment to student success. Along the way, we’ll provide services and support to ensure you’re taking the right courses – in the right sequence – to meet your goals. Winter is the perfect time to start, or continue, your college experience!

Drop in Students

If you’ve been attending a four-year university, but are taking a break for a quarter, semester, or a year, we encourage you to take a few classes for transfer at Skagit and enjoy our highly trained faculty and small class sizes.

Math Support
Taking Math online can be challenging. SVC is offering in-person support for all students registered for an SVC Math course. All in-person Math support will be offered by tenured SVC Math faculty and will be available on both the Mount Vernon and Whidbey Island campuses. This service is offered free of charge to all registered students.

Experiencing Unemployment?

Skagit Valley College’s Worker Retraining program can provide scholarships if you wish to gain skills in a high wage, high demand field. Our program assists students who receive unemployment benefits, as well as displaced homemakers, those discharged from military service, and self-employed and now unemployed.

The Employment Security Department of Washington State offers the Training Benefits program, which offers additional weeks of unemployment benefits so eligible claimants can train for careers in high demand fields.

  • The number of weeks you can receive Training Benefits varies according to your claim, but it is usually 26. These are in addition to the weeks you are eligible for, when not in training!
  • If approved for training benefits, you do not have to look for work as long as you are enrolled and making satisfactory progress in your training program.
  • The Employment Security Department of Washington State does not pay for books, tuition or school-related fees, but SVC’s Worker Retraining program does!
