Advocacy Alert – 2021 Unemployment Rates!

You may have already received your new unemployment insurance rate for 2021. If so, you saw an increase, even if you did not have layoffs this year. And if you were forced to lay off employees, you are looking at a new rate that is significantly higher.

Fortunately, the new rates will likely be adjusted by the Legislature before they take effect in April.

The Chamber has been paying attention to this issue for months and voicing our concern on your behalf. We will continue to educate our legislators on the importance of blunting the impact of UI rate increases. Otherwise, higher costs to you and to other small businesses will make it harder for you to recover or even to hang on.

Please forward to me your old and new UI rates if you would. Having real numbers will help demonstrate what will be a real problem, if not addressed. As legislation on mitigating the impact of UI comes out, we will share it with you.
