Skagit Volunteer Center Newsletter: November 2021

Volunteer with Community Action

Holiday Elves

Jingle bells! We are looking for groups interested in doing some fun holiday projects. Examples are making holiday cards for clients, holding donation drives for cold weather items such as blankets, sleeping bags, gloves, etc. Some projects would have to be completed by the end of November for distribution in December, but others are ongoing.

Food Delivery Drivers

Help deliver food to seniors who have a difficult time leaving their homes, due to physical or financial reasons. Drivers go out in pairs in Community Action vehicles weekday mornings. Flexible schedule, must have current driver’s license and proof of insurance.

Medicaid Transport Drivers

Help a senior or disabled neighbor by driving them to their Medicaid doctor’s appointments. Flexible schedule, must have current driver’s license, a safe working vehicle, proof of insurance, and an ability to keep a detailed record of each transport.

Wood Choppers/ Movers

Looking for a free workout? Volunteers are needed on Saturdays to chop, stack, and deliver wood to those who heat with wood but are no longer able to chop it themselves. Assistance with moving local seniors and disabled folks is also needed. A pick-up truck is handy, but not necessary.

Do you know a student looking for an internship opportunity?

Interviews are taking place now for winter quarter internships, for students interested in Data and Assessment, Media, Communications, Community Engagement, and Human Services.

Please contact Tracy Montaron, Volunteer Coordinator, at VolunteerCenter@CommunityActionSkagit.org, for more information about any of the above opportunities.
