City of Mount Vernon Flood Follow-Up
The Skagit River continues to recede, and City crews continue to tend to flood-related clean-up efforts.
The Downtown floodwall is being taken down and Riverwalk access will be available again in the days ahead. The River left plenty for our crews to clean up, so we thank you for your patience while these efforts continue.
City Parks (Lions, Edgewater) will begin to reopen as staff is able to access areas, clean equipment, and inspect playground facilities. For now, we encourage park users to enjoy Mount Vernon parks that are located on higher ground (Bakerview, Hillcrest, Little Mountain, Kiwanis Parks).
The City would like to thank our community for your cooperation throughout this high-water event. Special thanks as well to BNSF Railway, Dike Districts 1, 3, & 17; American Red Cross, and everyone at Skagit County Department of Emergency Management. The assistance and collaboration from all of these agency partners made the work of our city flood response much more efficient.
