Camp Korey Wins $10,000 ‘Peoples Choice’ Impact Grant
Peoples Bank is proud to announce Mount Vernon-based Camp Korey as the recipient of its first-ever ‘Peoples Choice’ Impact Grant. The selection of Camp Korey for this grant was determined by a public vote which took place between September 27 and October 10 on the Peoples Bank website.
Camp Korey provides year-round programming and transformational experiences for children living with life-altering medical conditions in a fun camp environment with specialized medical support. The $10,000 award will be used toward the purchase of additional GEM cars (Global Electric Motorcars), or equivalent electronic vehicles, to expand Camp Korey’s fleet of onsite ADA-accessible vehicles. These vehicles enhance accessibility for campers of all abilities, improve camper safety by allowing faster medical response time, and increase intentional activity time for campers by reducing redundant travel.
“We are grateful to receive this generous grant from Peoples Bank,” said Shannon Staples, MD, Medical Director at Camp Korey. “We use nearly every corner of our 200 acres to provide life-changing camp experiences for our campers and families. Having reliable onsite transportation increases our ability to deliver innovative, accessible programs and support to our families and campers with their medical challenges.”
