Port of Skagit to Host Mock Airport Incident

The Port of Skagit will be hosting a mock mass casualty incident training at Skagit Regional Airport on Friday, September 15 with several responding agencies from throughout Skagit County.

This exercise drill is conducted every few years at the airport as a training opportunity for Port of Skagit staff on the proper procedures for responding safely and effectively to emergency situations, such as airplane crashes.  It also serves as an important practice event for local emergency response agencies that deal with large scale incidents.

In addition to the Port of Skagit, other entities participating in the exercise include several local fire departments, Skagit County Department of Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Services, Public Health & Community Services, Coroner’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, Skagit 911 and other agencies that would normally assist in an incident that results in mass casualties.

The exercise will begin around 10am and end around noon.  During that time there will be a large emergency response presence from different agencies and departments at Skagit Regional Airport.  Please be advised that the large emergency response will be visible from Crosswind Drive and Higgins Airport Way, and that this is a planned and coordinated exercise, not a real emergency.
