Barron adds chimney sweeping to home maintenance services
Recognizing that many Northwest Washington residents rely on wood-burning fireplaces for heat, Barron Heating AC Electrical & Plumbing now offers chimney sweeping services to improve their safety and efficiency.
“We focus on three pillars: comfort, health and energy efficiency,” CEO Brad Barron said. “Chimneys affect all of them because every fireplace has the potential to send harmful contaminants such as smoke and debris into the breathable living spaces of homes.”
As fireplaces are used, flammable creosote builds up inside chimneys. The creosote then can ignite and cause a fire that spreads through a chimney and into a home.
The Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office recommends that chimneys and fireplaces be inspected and cleaned each year by a professional. In 2022 in Washington State, 757 fire incidents were caused by heating, which includes fireplaces and chimneys. Total loss was estimated at over $8 million.
“Since wood fireplaces are rarely used for heat during the summer, this is an ideal time to clean chimneys before cold weather returns and wait times grow longer,” Barron said.
