Voting Now Open for Game of the Week Student Section Competition

WECU invites the public to vote in this year’s Student Section Competition as part of the fourth annual Game of the Week Series Presented by WECU and Cascadia Daily News. From November 5 to November 15, fans are invited to cast their vote online at wecu.com/game-of-the-week to determine the most spirited student section across Whatcom and Skagit Counties. The winning student section will win the coveted Student Section Competition trophy and $1,500 for their Associated Student Body (ASB). The runner-up will be awarded $500.

The Game of the Week Series has showcased some of Northwest Washington’s most anticipated high school football matchups, drawing enthusiastic crowds and sparking school pride across the region. In this year’s Student Section Competition, students have worked with their cheer teams to create and coordinate dynamic cheers that celebrate their school spirit. Supporters can view all participating student sections on WECU’s YouTube channel before casting their votes.

Past champions of this competition include Anacortes High School (2023), Ferndale High School (2022), and Nooksack High School (2021). The winners of the 2024 competition will be announced on November 16 on CascadiaDailyNews.com and WECU’s social media channels.

“We’ve been blown away by the incredible participation, enthusiasm, and creativity we’ve seen in person throughout this series,” said Keith Mader, Director of PR at WECU. “The energy and pride these students bring to each game has been amazing to witness, and it’s a reminder of the strong community spirit here.”
